Harmony farm is located just outside of Chattanooga, TN in the small town of Cleveland. The farm is on 200 acres of beautiful pastureland and shady groves of trees. The land is level with no rocks and is literally horse heaven!
We specialize in equine retirement. We also sometimes offer sales and training.
Amy Mitchell is the trainer/Barn manager and has a lifetime of expeience working with horses. She started riding at age 5 at the summercamp where her mother was in charge of the horse program. By age 14 the family had moved to North Carolina and Amy was working at their boarding/lesson facility, Hickory Hills Riding Academy. This is when she started professionally training and starting young horses under saddle. She has worked with a variety of problem horses, young horses, emotionally damaged horses and WONDERFUL horses! This experience riding so many different types of horses has been invaluable. She is a sensitive and attentive trainer, listening to the horse and never pushing farther than the horse is ready to go. Amy has atended the clinics of Monty Roberts, Pat Parelli, John Lyons and Clinton Anderson. These trainers have all influenced her style of training. But she prefers to take aspects of these different methods and use them where they are appropriate, rather than following a single one for every horse.
Our Story
Harmony Farm Retirement and Sporthorses
Marilyn Mitchell, founder of Equindon Inc. and Amy at Rolex '09
We also have quality young horses available from time to time. The babies here on the farm are imprinted at birth and handled extensively during their young life with us. If we breed, it is only to the top stallions. We do extensive research to match bloodlines and are always aware of our mares strengths and weaknesses so we can match her with the stallion that will compliment her best. The European lines of warmblood sporthorses are the only lines that we use in our breeding program. The registry is not as important as the actual horse. Competition history, soundness history, pedigree, conformation and temperament are all things we take into consideration when we look for breeding stock. Most of our foals are registered in the Oldenburg N/A registry.

Amy has spent her life loving horses and thirsting for knowledge so that she could be as gracious and correct as possible in her training. Horses are extremely generous animals. They learn extremely quickly when the lines of communication are open and clear. If we learn to be balanced mentally as well as physically with our horses, they will give all they have for us! Communication is the key to a wonderful relationship with a horse. It is so important to listen to them and not only focus on OUR goals. Only then will we achieve lasting success.
